What do you miss most about being a student in Manchester?

What I miss most about my time as a student in Manchester is the vibrant social life and the activities I shared with friends. Every Sunday, I played football with the Chinese community, and on Thursdays, I enjoyed chess games at the Turning Tap Pub during the weekly chess society meetings. I also played badminton once or twice a week, keeping myself engaged in various active pursuits. I loved spending time in the city centre, window shopping in my spare moments, and occasionally visiting MediaCityUK to relax and feed the swans by the river. I also cherished hiking trips to nearby places like Greenfield and the trails around Dovestone Reservoir, which offered a refreshing escape into nature.

How did university shape your professional skills?

My time at university had a profound impact on my professional skills. Coming from a Civil Engineering background, my initial perspective on the construction industry was quite narrow. However, learning about construction management and construction finance broadened my vision significantly. The coursework and assignments helped me understand the management of people and projects from a global perspective, enhancing my problem-solving abilities through diverse group work experiences. Additionally, I gained a deep understanding of construction finance, including cash flow analysis and investment evaluation through international finance institutions. This enriched perspective has been invaluable in shaping my career and approach to the industry.
